Crofton (Mote Park)
The start of this trail takes you through a mature conifer plantation of Norway spruce. Due to the open nature of the forest, there is a rich ground cover of grasses, moss, ivy, lichens, briar and ferns. There is abundant natural regeneration of beech, hazel and ash which makes for a habitat of high biodiversity value. On your return to the trailhead on the western side you will walk close to an old wall which was the boundary between the woodland and grassland in olden times.
