Crag Wood Walk

Trail description

The Crag Wood Walk follows the East Clare Way for much of its length but provides an interesting loop back to the north of the forested area. To get the best panoramic views, you should walk the trail in an anti-clockwise direction, starting by heading up to the right from the car-park. The dense forest gives way to open and exposed hillsides with the expanse of Lough Derg opening up below. The hill can be subject to sudden changes in weather so be prepared for all seasons! A short section at the end follows the public road, so be aware of passing traffic, before re-entering at the 'Ballycuggaran' sign.
