This loop begins and ends at Christ the King car park. The purple markers will lead you into the Aherlow Nature Park, a stand of trees dominated by mature Scots Pines. This pleasant trail has many identification panels and historic features to give the walker a sense of genus locus or 'spirit of place'. The trail overlaps with a portion of the Ballyhoura Way, a long distance way marked route that makes its way through the forest on its journey from St. John's Bridge in Co. Limerick to Limerick Junction in Co. Tipperary. Continue on, passing Aherlow House Hotel - a former hunting lodge, into Ballinacourty woods. This section has a number of specimen trees in its midst, a throwback no doubt to its days as part of the local estate.
The return journey back to the car park will off the walker some beautiful views from Slievenamuck to the Galty's across the Glen of Aherlow.
