This panoramic trail takes you along the northern flank of the iconic flat topped Benbulben mountain. You can see Sligo and Donegal bay and the monastic Inish Murray Island to the west. In the distance you can see Knocknarea ( supposed burial place of Queen Maedbh of Connacht) and the Ox mountain range of West Sligo. On a clear day the Sliabh League cliffs in west Donegal can be seen.
Oak, birch, sycamore and alder can be seen in the vicinity of the trail head. The main species thereafter are Sitka spruce and Lodgepole pine. Both are exotic conifers whose natural range is western North America.
