Mixed Woodland Loop

Trail description

The trail takes you through a diverse forest of  both conifer and broadleaf species. Some of the old trees were planted by the Vandeleur family over 100 years ago. Main broadleaf species are beech, oak, ash, sycamore, lime and birch.  The under story of briar, bracken, grasses and abundant natural regeneration makes for a habitat rich in bio diversity. You will also see parts of the forest that was felled and restocked with Sitka spruce, larch and birch.
