Glanageenty Loop

Trail description

The Glanageenty Loop follows a mixture of forest roads and narrow paths offering a variation of walking experiences.  Young tree plantations give way to mature woodland canopy where the path runs along the riverbank of the Glanageenty River until you emerge out into open agricultural land.  The rolling topography offers many opportunities to enjoy expansive views of the surrounding countryside.  On clear days it is possible to see the Paps mountain range on the Kerry/Cork border and the Macgillycuddy Reeks including Carrauntoohill (1039m), the highest mountain in Ireland.  You may also catch a glimpse of Tralee Bay in the distance.  The views into the valley itself are very impressive also.
