Deerpark

Trail description

This route follows the blue route to the Paddock Ponds ( and back from the Paddock Ponds). From the ponds the route follows up a switch back road which now has panoramic views north and east over the Sugarloaf, Bray, Klilliney Hill and Dublin Bay to Howth. Passing the townland know as Priests Hall we cross another area clear felled in 2007 with a view opening up of Glensoulan Valley , Maulin and an extensive area of wild land to the west. The route turns south to join the Wicklow way and then east to follow the forest boundary to return to the Paddock Ponds. The cottage to the south of the ponds was once the water keepers cottage and is now in private ownership. From here we skirt the ponds to return to join the blue route and follow the forest road back to the car park - don't forget the views to the west!

Safety on the Hills
When venturing into the hills visitors are advised to be equipped with waterproof clothing, strong shoes or boots, a drink and a snack and a map and compass.
