Miner's Path

Trail description

Halfway down the Glenmalure valley, the Miner's Path is an excellent starting point for challenging hikes towards Glendalough or after the initial climb, a relaxing walk back to the Glenmalure Inn.

Starting at Ballinafunshoge carpark, the path zig-zags up the side of the valley.  The steep narrow path through a pleasant Scots Pine forest is testing, but each turn offers an opportunity to rest while taking in views of the Glenmalure valley.

The path joins the Wicklow way after approximately 1 mile.  A left will eventually lead to Glendalough after circumventing Mullacor Mountain.  A right turn will lead back to Glenmalure village.  There is also an extensive forest road network for those interested in leaving the beaten track.

When venturing into the hills visitors are advised to be equipped with waterproof clothing, strong shoes or boots, a drink, map and compass.
