Leafy Loop

Trail description

From the car park, you have the option of picking up the Leafy Loop trail as it heads south through Capponellan Wood or, alternatively, crossing the N8 and following the same trail as it heads north towards the Erkina River.

If you choose the first option, the trail will take you along the forest road  through a great variety of broadleaves and coniferous forest until it meets the public road near the Ballagh.

If you choose the second option, the trail will take you up through Bishop's Wood past the junction that leads to the Bishops tree. The trail continues on in a northerly direction through coniferous forest until it meets the Erkina river. It then follows the river eastwards until it meets the bridge, at which point it exits the property heading, once again heading northwards.

Note that the trail measurements are based on a linear walk of the trail from the entry point into Bishop's Wood at the Erkina River bridge to the exit point near the Ballagh in the southern part of Capponellan.
