The Gazebo Loop is an energetic muscle stretcher that will lead you up to the octagonal gazebo. This attractive structure served as a private tea house in the leisurely days of the landlords. From here there are spectacular views out across Cork harbour of Crosshaven and Whitegate.
Continue along the trail until you reach the highest point of the hill, 74m and Binne's cairn. Bronze Age men (circa 1500 B.C.) built a great grave to one of their dead. The cairn was excavated in 1932 - it stood seven feet high and was enclosed by a boulder kerb fifty three feet in diameter. Near the centre was a platform of clay where it is believed the body would have lain. On the southern side was an arc of small stones considered to have been a ritual feature and was comparable to similar features in other Irish, English, Scottish and Dutch sites.
Continue back to the car park.
