Old Mill Loop

Trail description

The first section of this trail follows the route of the river. The trail then moves back up the valley at the site of the old mill where the remnants of the mill can be seen. The old stone mill can be seen at the side of the river. The walk then climbs up the valley back to the car park through conifers of different ages. The metal man is situated on the top of the ridge of Capard on the right hand side as you walk back towards the car park. The forest road offers views right out over Offaly and towards the extinct volcano of Croghan hill which sticks out from the raised bogs and flat limestone landscape of north Offaly.
