Western Way (Sheskin North)
This trail is a section of the Western Way that traverses the extensive boglands of north Mayo between Ballycastle and Ballymonnelly bridge. The area is extremely remote and uninhabited giving this route a distinctive "wilderness" feel. The route is over 25 km from beginning to end and, while it could be undertaken in one day by strong walkers, hikers may prefer to camp on route overnight. The trail is moderate in effort required (no steep climbs etc.) and follows forest and bog roads and specially constructed bog bridges.
Ensure that you have all the necessary equipment for hiking in remote country.
