The Rath Walk winds through the forest, past the beech lined avenue, and the rare stand of coastal redwood, on up to the hill top rath with fine views of Kilkea Castle and beyond. It then exits the rath at the same point you entered and follows the trail around the edge of the rath through spruce, ash and beech forests. Turning off the forest road at the big beech trees, there is a short detour on the right to Lady's View with a bench to sit and relax. The trail finishes back in the car park and at the St. Laurence O'Toole memorial stone.
The Rath Walk includes a nature / heritage trail with 10 information stops along the route. You can download a PDF trail guide here.
